Come with a city,

leave with an essay!

Indian cities have not really been understood with respect to their historical evolution. Often the information is patchy or is just not available. We, at CityLabs wish to address this gap by guiding Architects, Designers and Planners create a narrative around the Urban Histories of their own cities or cities of their choice.

Writing Urban History is a four-day intensive online workshop on learning to conceptualise and narrate the historical evolution of Indian cities using different mediums. It is a part of a year-long series of workshops conducted under the narrative of  CityLabs. All the workshops organised in this year fall under the theme of Public Open Spaces.

The workshop is scheduled to be conducted online between 05 June - 08 June 2020.

The Fees for the workshop is 5000 INR.

This workshop is ideal for students and professionals from the field of Architecture, Planning, Design, Geography, History and Arts.

During this workshop, the participants will be given daily theoretical inputs over video conferencing on key urban theories and will be exposed to techniques and mediums they can use to narrate the urban histories of the cities of their choice in the best way possible.

The workshop will end with each participant producing a publication/ dissemination ready presentation/essay , comic on the urban history of a city.
